Every place has two sides to it. I am originally from Brazil, and even though there is a lot of violence and corruption, there are still many beautiful things about Brazil.
I was surprised to hear Anne Summers story and the way she talked about corruption; I had always only seen Sydney as a perfect place. But I realise that not every place is perfect. There is a dream and there is a nightmare.
I like the contrast between the ocean breeze and the urban concrete and the activity of the city.
Democracy is also full of contrasts, especially in Brazil. At the moment the political landscape is really polarised.
Democracy to me means everyone has an opportunity to participate, have an opinion, be represented, take action, and protest without fear of violence from the police.
