LOST SMELLS OF SYDNEY

I was listening to Michael Darcy’s interview about the breweries in Chippendale and it reminded me of the lost smells of Sydney. I remember being little and my father driving through Surry Hills and there was a large brewery near the glass factory on South Dowling Street. When you drove past the brewery the scent would hit you two minutes after. You’d wait for it. I liked it so I’d try to breathe it in deeply and keep it. The malty smell of the brewery reminded me of opening a packet of cornflakes.

SCENT

Malty, earthy smell.
