I moved to Sydney a year ago, it was really overwhelming coming from Tasmania. The casualisation of the workforce is really stark here, it’s difficult to get a full-time job. In Sydney it’s more about the hustle because everyone is really qualified, and therefore you sort of have to sell yourself.

When I first started at my office, I thought that it had no smell at all but I realised that there is actually a bland, artificial smell that hits you when you walk in the door. The longer you’re there, the smell gains a different meaning.


Slight scent of disinfectant, new computer smell, traffic, air conditioning, something left in the fridge too long.
