Moving from an industrial port town to a briny inner-city village. Being surprised by the warmth of the immediate community, who invited us as newcomers to a street party and our next door neighbours to Christmas. Exchanging the smells of industry with those of nature.
Living in a miniature version of our old house, a little weatherboard cottage dwarfed by the brick buildings on either side.
SCENT
lush vegetation, citrusy eucalypt, heady florals, undercurrent of decay (vegetation, mammalian, and rotting shellfish) dank moisture, briny note, fresh paint.
